Mr Amish Patel
Amish completed his dentistry degree in 2001 (Manchester University) and worked in a dental practice for three years, before starting hospital work. He then completed his medical degree in 2010 (St Bartholomew’s and The London) before moving to Australia in 2011. He completed his Fellowship OMFS surgical training in Melbourne in January 2017. Amish went on to complete sub-specialty fellowships in orthognathic surgery and TMJ surgery in Melbourne in 2017. He then undertook a further fellowship in head and neck oncology surgery at Oxford University Hospitals in 2018, before moving to Geelong at the beginning of 2019. Amish works as a consultant specialist at University Hospital Geelong, Western Health and The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, in addition to working in his private practice. He also has an interest in education and is a Supervisor of Training for OMFS trainees, and lectures both medical and dental students in Victoria and NSW.
Professor Mark Kotowicz
Mark is a physician and clinical investigator whose research activities have focused on the pathophysiology, epidemiology and treatment of osteoporosis. He has extensive experience in clinical trials of therapies for osteoporosis. He is Director of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University Hospital Geelong, Professor in Endocrinology & Diabetes at Deakin University, a Principal Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne Medical School-Western Campus. He is the Endocrine Society Representative on the SOS Fracture Alliance, and has more than 200 publications in peer reviewed literature.
Dr Hanlie Engelbrecht
Hanlie is a South African trained specialist oral surgeon. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pretoria and her post-graduate training at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She completed a Fellowship in Craniofacial Cleft Surgery at the Pretoria Craniofacial Cleft Clinic, the biggest cleft clinic in Africa. She relocated to Melbourne in 2013 and is currently employed at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, at a private practice in Hawthorn and Wheelers Hill and the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne and University of Melbourne. Hanlie holds specialist registration in Australia as an oral surgeon and is passionate about being part of the team at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Dental Oncology, since 2016.
Dr Sophie Beaumont
Sophie is a dental practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience working in both the private and public sectors. Having completed a Master of Public Health in 2004, Sophie’s passion for public dental care grew exponentially. She has worked in Community Dental Clinics and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne in the General Practice and emergency departments, day surgery unit, dental teaching clinics as senior dentist and clinical supervisor and most recently in Oral Medicine specialist clinic. Sophie has been involved in the overseas dentist training program and Antarctic Doctors training program for the past few years. In 2018 Sophie was appointed as the head of Dental Oncology at Peter MacCallum Cancer centre. Sophie is passionate about equity in provision of dental and oral healthcare especially for patients undergoing cancer treatment. She is currently studying a Masters of Cancer Sciences at the University of Melbourne and embarking on research within the dental oncology department at Peter Mac. In her free time Sophie enjoys time with her family and friends, travel, and enjoying good South Australian Shiraz!
