Crazysocks4docs Day 2021
Join us in helping to promote Crazysocks4docs Day on Friday 4 June 2021.
The Crazysocks4docs Trust Foundation was established to fulfil Dr Geoff Toogood’s vision of breaking down the stigma around mental health issues in doctors and health professionals. Geoff is a consultant cardiologist in Melbourne. He has lived experience of both depression and anxiety. He faced stigma and discrimination at many levels and was determined that once recovered he would create an awareness movement to break down the stigma faced by health professionals. He wants to reduce doctors’ suicide around the world and wants to normalise an openess to talk about mental health issues and to encourage health professionals and others to share their lived experience of mental health issues.
You can take part by making a donation, purchasing some 'crazy socks' and by joining their virtual Crazysocks4docs Day event on Friday 4 June featuring the following panellists:
- Dame Clare Gerada - NHS PH, Medical Director and Chair of Doctors in Distress
- Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM - Doctor, lawyer, disability advocate, and researcher. The first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland, and the second person to graduate medical school with quadriplegia in Australia
- Dr Mukesh Haikerwal AC - Well-known Melbourne GP, Past state and National President of the AMA and Chair of the Council of the World Medical Association, health advocate and campaigner.
