FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) General Assembly 2024
The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) General Assembly 2024 results are in, and its good news for Melbourne dentist and former President of the ADA, Dr Stephen Liew.
Dr Liew has secured a prestigious role as Speaker of the General Assembly, an outcome that was announced at the FDI 2024 congress in Istanbul which ran from 12– 15 September.
Dr Liew’s appointment marks just the third time since 1900 that an Australian has held this senior position and serves as a glowing reflection of Dr Liew’s professionalism, commitment to progressing the industry, and standing amongst his colleagues both at home and in the international community.
Across his term, Dr Liew will contribute to the creation of FDI policies, the organisation’s strategic plan, missions and aims, and the monitoring of progress towards these objectives. The General Assembly also provides significant input into health policy decisions undertaken by the World Health Organization and various UN agencies, offering valuable guidance in efforts to improve oral health outcomes globally.
The ADAVB is excited to have Dr Liew representing Australia on the international stage, and we wish him every success during his term.
